Pool Pen 1 - Wild ARC
The pool pen facility is one of the newer structures at Wild ARC and includes its own food prep and laundry area for aquatic animals, in addition to three separate pools for all aquatic species. Isolation wards for particularly sensitive aquatic species, a wash zone for oiled wildlife, seabird equipment area, and bug room are also contained in this building. Upgrades and improvements to the facility have been made including tiling of the pools (completed in 2019) to enable more efficient cleaning and sanitizing between patients and ensure the patients housed within receive the highest standard of care. On top of the intensive water filtration system maintenance, the annual electrical and septic costs are significant. Annual maintenance needs also include plumbing, electrical, and roofing repairs as well as screening, enrichment materials, and deep cleaning.
Pool Pen 1 is the largest of the three pools. Sponsorship supporters will have their name or that of an honouree displayed on the enclosure
